I think you’ll agree with me when I say there’s nothing like a good bowl of cereal. Being gluten-free shouldn’t mean we have to miss out on our favorite cereals in the morning or for a late night snack. I’m sharing all of the best gluten free cereals, like the classic Cheerios to some more unheard of cereals like Choco Chimps [basically gluten free Cocoa Puffs].
Is All Cereal Gluten Free?
Unfortunately, most of the popular cereals on the market contain gluten.
In order for a food product to be labeled as gluten-free, no gluten, free of gluten or without gluten, it must contain less than 20 ppm of gluten. Which is the lowest detectable level of gluten, according to the FDA.
If there is not a “gluten-free” label on the product packaging, read the ingredients label thoroughly. Check for hidden or questionable ingredients. Some ingredients may contain gluten.
Cereals made of corn, quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, sorghum, millet, amaranth, teff, rice, and gluten-free oats are naturally gluten-free.
What Classic Cereals Are Gluten Free?
Luckily, with the demand getting higher and higher for gluten free foods, we’re starting to see more gluten free cereal. I’m going to link some of my favorites to buy on amazon. Many of these can also be found in your local grocery store, as well as Target and Walmart! So – here are some of the best gluten free cereals!
Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Honey Nut Chex, Chocolate Chex, and Vanilla Chex are all also gluten-free. The one type of Chex that is not gluten-free is Wheat Chex.
Cheerios have many flavors, but not all of them are gluten-free. Banana Nut Cheerios, Chocolate Cheerios, Frosted Cheerios, Fruity Cheerios, Multigrain Cheerios, and Pumpkin Spice Cheerios are all gluten free.
But be careful Cheerios Oat Crunch are not considered gluten-free by the General Mills company. You’ll want to steer clear of this flavor as well as Cheerios Oat Crunch Oats ‘N Honey if you’re following a gluten-free diet.
Warm Gluten Free Cereal
Another gluten free cereal I love is oatmeal. There’s so many different ways to eat it, I like to eat mine with strawberries, a little bit of brown sugar, and cottage cheese on top!
It’s such a good healthy breakfast option. For one thing, it’s delicious but studies show that oats and oatmeal have many health benefits. These include weight loss, lower blood sugar levels, and lastly a reduced risk of heart disease.
Oats are among the healthiest grains on earth. They’re a gluten-free whole grain and a great source of important vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants.
I’m linking some of my favorite regular oatmeal and instant oatmeal too in case you prefer that instead.
Cold GF Cereal
Nature’s Path Organic Cereals have tons of different flavors and are all delicious! Nature’s Path cereal is considered to be a healthy breakfast option. It’s made with organic ingredients and does not contain any artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, or GMOs.
Amazon flakes are crunchy organic frosted flakes, sweetened with organic sugar that stay crunchy even in milk. So basically Frosted Flakes and the most important thing, they’re gluten friendly!
Choco Chimps are basically identical to Cocoa Puffs. Amazon only sell them in bulk but you can usually find them at Target! I like to use the Choco Chimps and the Crispy Rice Cereal in my gluten free rice krispie treat recipe!

I haven’t tried the Magic Spoon gluten free cereal yet, but I see it all over instagram and have heard it’s amazing! Since I haven’t eaten them yet, I can’t say for sure if they live up to the hype. But I hope to try them soon!
In this post, I linked and shared some of my favorite gluten free cereal. Certainly, there are other options out there but like I said earlier these are some of my favorites. As I have said, I don’t think we should have to give up cereal for a midnight snack even if we’re gluten free. So I hope you give some of the a try and enjoy them!
