I think you’ll agree with me when I say the best part of a road trip are the snacks, right? Being gluten free doesn’t mean we have to miss out on that! So what are the best snacks for people that have a gluten intolerance? Keep reading to find out!
Of course there are the obvious, naturally gluten free snacks that are great for travel like fruits, veggies, and nuts.
There are also lots of chips that are gluten-free, but always make sure you read the ingredients and allergen warnings on the nutrition label.
Some snacks and candies seem like they would be gluten-free but have added ingredients that contain gluten and/or are manufactured in facilities that also process wheat products, which could result in cross-contamination.
Salty Gluten Free Travel Snacks
There are tons of GF snacks for people who love salty and crunchy snacks!
Chips, Popcorn, Crackers, Etc.
Classic potato chips and tortilla chips should be gluten free, it’s always best to read the labels just to be sure.
Doritos – I’m a person who could eat doritos every day of my life, so of course this is first on my list! These Doritos come in a can so they’re perfect for traveling.
These pop chips are one of my favorite gluten free snacks, they buttermilk ranch are my favorite! They’re airy and crispy, and popped not fried. So they’re a bit of a healthier alternative to just your classic potato chip. You can buy a variety pack on Amazon – and individual bags in your local grocery store.
Cape Cod Chips – available in many flavors – and they’re all GF and all SO GOOD!
Ruffles, Lays, Tostitos Tortilla Chips, Late July Tortilla Chips, and Fritos Original Corn Chips are all gluten-friendly.
Most popcorn is also gluten free. Yet, some people with celiac disease may also have intolerances to certain proteins in corn.
Skinny pop, Boom Chicka Pop, Smartfood, and Pirate’s Booty are all gluten free popcorn, they also come in travel sized bags which make them the perfect travel snack.
Crackers– Luckily, there are some pretty good gluten free crackers being made now.
- CrunchMaster GF crackers are my favorite, they come in lots of flavors like Sea Salt, Avocado Toast, Roasted Garlic, Olive Oil.

- Good Thins
- Glutino Crackers
Pretzels – most pretzels ARE NOT gluten free. But Snyders of Hanover make a gluten free option.
Beef Jerky – is another snack that isn’t always gluten free but there are GF options, but always read the label.
This Pacific Gold Beef Jerky is gluten free and so is this Country Archer Grass Fed Beef Stick.
Nuts and Seeds are a great naturally gluten free travel snack.

Sweet Gluten Free Travel Snacks
Some people are more of a sweet snacks person, I like a mixture of both! I just don’t think there’s a better combo than a sweet snack, followed by a salty snacks. Now – let’s talk about sweet gluten free snacks!
Candy, Granola Bars, Animal Crackers, Etc.
Rice Cakes come in a bunch of different flavors, like a plain lightly salted, apple cinnamon, caramel, and more! The chocolate are my personal favorite – with a little bit of peanut butter on top!
I am obsessed with this MadeGood brand – they have so many granola bar flavors. They even have a birthday cake chocolate drizzled granola bar! But my favorite snack they make are the Mixed Berry granola minis. They’re like tiny bite sized granola bars! They’re perfect snack to throw in your bag when you’re on the go!
