Looking for a gluten free recipe for this Czech dessert? I’ve got you covered. I get a lot of questions about sharing my gluten free Kolaches recipe. But to be honest I’ve never made them before! But I did a little research on them so I can link 5 gluten free kolaches recipes that you can try yourself!
Gluten Free Kolaches Recipe
Kolaches are a Czech pastry traditionally made of a yeast dough and usually filled with fruit, but sometimes cheese. They’re popular in Texas and other small towns in the midwestern United States, where they were introduced by Czech immigrants. They were originally intended to use leftover foods that you would have around the house, so the fillings varied from batch to batch! Since, typically a Kolache is made with regular dough, I’m going to be sharing with you recipes on how you can make your own GF Kolaches at home!
Kolaches are often served at church suppers and on holidays but also as an everyday comfort food. From what I’ve read, the recipes are usually passed down, with spices like mace or nutmeg.
What’s in a Kolache?
You can put just about anything into your kolache recipe filling. I would suggest that if you’re making a batch for a group of people, you should make several different flavors so that your guests have options to choose from.
Tip – If you’re tight on time or don’t have the ingredients to make your own filling, you can always use premade jam. [But make sure it’s gluten free!]
