Gluten Free Restaurants Columbus Ohio
Eating gluten-free is continuing to become more and more popular, with people realizing their intolerance and others who are just looking to make a change in their diet. Which, lucky for us – means more gluten free options at restaurants or even completely dedicated gluten free restaurants!
If you don’t already know, a gluten intolerance or Celiac Disease is when you cannot digest the protein found in wheat, barley, or rye, which damages part of the small intestine and can disrupt the absorption of nutrients. It differs from person to person but in general the symptoms are –
- Abdominal pain
- Anemia
- Anxiety
- Bloating or gas
- Brain fog, or trouble concentrating
- Depression
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Fatigue
When a product is labeled gluten-free, it typically means products free of wheat, rye and barley and their derivatives. However, the FDA allows food with gluten-free labels to contain less than 20 parts per million of gluten, which is the lowest that can be reliably detected in foods.
